Training
Kwintessence provides workshops and trainings on a number of topics, all related to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. These workshops are tailor made for your institution, and can vary in duration and format, according to your needs and requests. All trainings and workshops (also the virtual trainings and workshops) contain interactive elements, such as exercises and discussion with trainers and with other participants. All workshops and trainings can be provided at your host institution or through video-conferencing, while the MSCA PF course is also offered in an e-learning format. In addition, we offer modules on specific topics relevant to the MSCA scheme. Trainings last 1 – 2 days, whilst the modules last approx 2 hours. Trainings are developed with and will be implemented together with OxygenEUm. Please see the training offer below.   

How to write a competitive MSCA-PF proposal (e-learning)

This extended training explains the objectives and expected impact of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme, and will help you write a competitive MSCA-PF proposal.

Target audience: postdoctoral applicants, their supervisors and EU support staff.

Format 1: e-training for a group of applicants (and supervisors) from a single host organisation, and for individual applicants. Through our e-learning platform, participants get access to pre-recorded video-lectures, interactive exercises, discussion board, wrap-up meeting and support material.
Duration: 8 hours (at your own pace, specific dates set for exercises and wrap-up meeting).

Format 2: face-to-face or virtual training for a group of applicants and EU support staff from a single host organisation. The training will include presentations, discussions and interactive exercises. The training will cover all parts of the proposal template, as well as introductions to the proposal sections. The training can be custom-made to your request.
Duration: 0.5 – 2 days.

How to write a competitive MSCA-DN proposal

This extended training explains the objectives and expected impact of the MSCA Doctoral Networks scheme, and will help you write a strong proposal.

Target audience: Principal Investigators, group leaders, EU staff.
Format: face-to-face or virtual training for a group from a single host organisation. The training will include presentations about proposal sections and underlying topics, discussions and interactive exercises.
Duration: 1 day.

How to write a competitive MSCA-COFUND proposal

This training explains the objectives and expected impact of the MSCA COFUND scheme, and will help you to write a competitive proposal.

Target audience: University policy makers, EU office staff, Principal Investigators.
Format: face-to-face or virtual training for a group of applicants from a single host organisation. The training will include presentations, discussions and interactive exercises.
Duration: 1 – 2 days.

Persuasive writing - MSCA

This module focuses on how to write, rather than on what to write. Which writing style convinces the reviewer?

Target audience: postdoctoral applicants, PIs and EU support staff.
Format: face-to-face or virtual module that will teach you how to write convincing, easy to read and to the point proposals. The module will be provided to groups from a single organisation, a single MSCA project etc. The module includes presentations, interactive exercises and discussions.
Duration: 2 hours .

Supervisors for MSCA PF projects

This module prepares potential supervisors of MSCA PF projects to successfully fulfil their role.

Target audience: (potential) supervisors for MSCA PF projects.
Format: face-to-face or virtual module for potential supervisors from a single host organisation. The module covers responsibilities before and during proposal writing and during project implementation. The module includes presentations and discussions.
Duration: 2 hrs.

Train the Trainers - MSCA

This training prepares Trainers how to best support the applicants to write a strong MSCA proposal.

Target audience: EU support staff.
Format: face-to-face or virtual training for EU support staff from a single host organisation. The training includes presentations (explanation of the MSCA programme or a specific MSCA scheme), interactive exercises (how to review a proposal) and discussions.
Duration: 1 day.

Communication in MSCA proposals and projects

This training prepares participants how to best prepare and implement a communication strategy for an MSCA project.This module prepares potential supervisors of MSCA PF projects to succesfully fulfil their role.

Target audience: (potential) Coordinators, writers, project managers and EU support staff.
Format: face-to-face or virtual training. The training explains the significance of communication as part of the ‘impact’ criterion and explains the set-up and implementation of a sustainable project communication strategy. Best practice examples and typical pitfalls to avoid round up the training. This module includes interactive exercises and discussion.
Duration: 0.5 day.

The human side of project management - MSCA

This training prepares participants for managing an MSCA project, with a particular focus on Cofund and ITN/DN.

Target audience: Coordinators, project managers and EU support staff.
Format: face-to-face or virtual training. The training is based on presentations of a MSCA collaborative project life cycle, typical occurrences and challenges and how to overcome them. The training is not a merely technical briefing but goes beyond the facts and rules. This module includes interactive exercises and discussion.
Duration: 2 hours.
